Romantic Walking Trails Near Scar House

Our cottages for couples are located near some of the best walking mountain and beach trails in Wexford, Ireland. From Fourth Mountain, Bree Hill, Ravenwood to Tintern Abbey.

Fourth Mountain Trail
At 780 feet height just a few miles from Scar House it is a 500+ million-year quartzite filled rock with rebellion history an a grotto making it a great trail for any walking enthusiasts. Once you have taken on the steep climb you have views of Saltee Islands, Rosslare, Our Lady’s Island, Hook Head lighthouse all the way to Dunmore East. There is a safe car park provided by the Wexford county council and several will signed trails for every fitness level. It is truly a hidden gem for any walking fan. Fourth Mountain Trail
Raven Point Trail

Raven Wood in south Wexford is a unique adventure as it combines a woodland trail and one of the best beaches in Wexford. Home of the wild goose population the woodland has been in existence since early 1900s when it was planted to avoid costal erosion. There are several trails for every fitness level which are well sign posted. You start at the Raven Wood Car park which most of the year has a food truck for your convenience.

Fethard Castle Trail
Only a ten-minute drive from Scar House, Fethard Castle trail is on the grounds of the historic 15th century ruined castle. It also goes through the woods of Grange Ville part of the Loftus estate. A beautiful trail following a stream surrounded by untouched nature and wildlife. You can finish your walk and visit some of the pubs and cafes on Fethard main street.

Kelly's Wood
Located on the Tyndall family estate but now managed by Coillte this woodland trail is not one to miss. This river wood walk is a good example of biodiversity in nature. Even though the original house was destroyed in 1957 there are still some elements like the icehouse and limekiln visible on the estate. This trail has its own car park and if you like fishing you can also the Oaklands fishing lake site.
