Situated 25 minutes’ drive from Rosslare Europort, Scar House is ideally located as a base to explore Ireland’s historic South East. The Viking town of Wexford is just 15 minutes by car and is now a bedrock of Ireland's history, heritage and cultural traditions. The narrow and picturesque streets and lanes are dotted with romantic restaurants and coffee shops to enjoy after exploring Wexford’s ancient past.
Garden themed en-suite bedrooms are located in our converted barn, where ancient charm
and modern luxury combine with ease. Each double height bedroom is tastefully decorated
with handcrafted beds, cosy linens, cushions and throws.
A hearty Irish breakfast is served in the 18th century oak-beamed barn. Sizzling Irish bacon, local sausages along with golden yolk eggs from the family’s free-range hens will set you up for the day.
After breakfast, feel free to roam the gardens at Scar House. Visit the sunken fairy garden with its
miniature landscapes or stroll around the pond, teaming with native wildlife.

Ramble through the lavender lined cottage garden, where spring displays of tulips and daffodils give way to a summer burst of David Austin roses. While there, wander over to our mini orchard, home to our collection of pampered hens.
Walk through our rose and geranium clad pergolas to discover sculptures and resting areas to sooth your senses. Stop by the orangery to sit and catch your breath and allow the symphony of bird song at Scar House lull you back to nature.
Outside the calm and tranquillity of Scar House, you are just a short distance from many
attractions of Ireland’s ancient east. Loftus Hall, Tintern Abbey, Johnstown Castle,
The Irish National Heritage Park, the JFK homestead and the Dunbrody
famine ship are all yours to explore.
Scenic walking and driving routes along with deserted beaches dot the coastline of Wexford while the raw beauty of Hook Head and thatched cottage treasure of Kilmore Quay are all within 30 minutes’ drive.
45 minutes to the south, Ireland’s oldest city of Waterford awaits you. This is home to Waterford Crystal and Tramore Seaside Resort while the Bishop’s Palace and Medieval Museum will captivate your imagination with its beautifully woven stories and displays of the city’s fascinating history.
One hour to the east of Scar House, allow the historic city of Kilkenny tempt you to discover the ancient structures of Jerpoint Abbey, Kilkenny castle and Dunmore caves or let the romantic location of the Kilfane Glen and Waterfall steal your breath away.
